Noah's First Years: Better late than never!

So I did not start this blog until Makenna was born....and so poor Noah didn't get to get his first two years documented like her and Kayleigh will.  So I went back and from notes I've written in the past and after scanning through his old pictures I am making a blog post all about Noah's first years!  So this is going to be a longer blog, but I will be happy to finish it so I have my little man more documented too!  So here we go!

These pictures were taken a little over two weeks before Noah was born.  He was a very easy pregnancy.  I gained 45 pounds though.  Eek!  Too many goodies, my goodies of choice during the pregnancy were Oreo cookies and chocolate.  J I remember feeling nauseous once or twice and that was it.  Other than that my only other symptom was that I was always tired….I took many naps and could have slept for days!  I was teaching 2nd grade and despite being pregnant it was not too bad of a school year.  Noah was an easy pregnancy for sure.  I carried him very low.  He was always hanging out low in my belly.   I found out I was pregnant with Noah in August of 2008.  After having two miscarriages we were excited when we found out, but wary of a miscarriage.  But Noah stuck around and it was amazing. I loved feeling him move, he especially moved around when I was sleeping in the middle of the night or if I was really worked up about something.  He would move then.  It was like he was like, “Hey mom, calm down you’re getting me all wild up!”  In January 2009 we found out he was a boy and could not be happier.  During the ultra sound he stuck out his tongue for us.  What a little stinker.  We were a little worried because they had found a spot on his heart that could have been a small sign of Down syndrome.  But he was born perfect.  J

Birth Story:  On Friday morning, April 17th 2009 I was dreaming a crazy dream.  I can’t remember all of the details, but my Aunt Maxine was in it and I had to go to the bathroom.  I almost think she was teaching me a dance?! Who knows! Well suddenly I felt as if I had peed the bed.  Even in my dream I remember wondering if I peed my pants.  I woke up and freaked out.  I ran to the bathroom and peed, but even though I was finished water was still coming out into the toilet.  I was pretty sure my water was broken.  It was around 4:30 in the morning.  Noah was not even due until May 15th so my classroom was not ready, I was not ready, nothing was ready! Lol  My house was a mess and even though the water continued to drop out of me I stuck a towel there and insisted that we cleaned before we went to the hospital. Lol  So despite Tommy’s arguments we cleaned up a bit, packed a quick hospital bag and headed to the hospital.  The funny thing is the very next day was supposed to be our birthing class!!! Needless to say we didn’t make it.  After your water breaks you have to deliver within 24 hours to prevent infection so we were excited that we would have our baby boy very soon.  The contractions started and even though they really hurt I held out until I was about  7.5 centimeters dilated before I got an epidural.  Within an hour of the epidural and about thirty minutes of pushing my baby boy was born.  Apparently he had been in the birth canal for awhile because he had a two inch cone head!! Lol  He was 19 ½ inches long and 6 pounds 4 ounces. J

Noah – 0 months old
When I first saw Noah from a distance as the doctors were cleaning him up ,etc.  He looked like a little black baby and I was freaking out because I was thinking nobody would believe it was Tommy’s!  ha ha.  But it turns out that he was just needing a little circulation.  He had brown hair and blues eyes!  His poor little cone head!  When I first held him in my arms I was full of emotion.  I suddenly felt an intense feeling of love and protection for this new baby.   I had opted to breastfeed and the nurse wanted me to try and feed him immediately.  I had no idea what I was doing and it was a weird experience, but we made it through.  Noah was greeted by the following people at the hospital:  Grandma Timmons (my mom) and his Daddy were there for his birth.  Then Grandma Starits, Holly Link (my best friend), Step Dad, and Brother Jeffrey came to visit.  My brother Kyle was on his mission in Oklahoma, but we made sure he knew of his arrival as soon as possible! Noah’s first month of life was beautiful.  He slept most of the time and was a good baby.  I was in love!
Noah’s Blessing Day = May 10, 2009.
What a special day and weekend.  My mom was graduating with her master’s degree so we were lucky to have my grandma Morgan, Aunt Melinda, Uncle Kory and two of the their four kids (Ryan and Addie) also be there for Noah’s blessing.  It was a wonderful weekend!  We have a four generation picture where I look like a beached whale still! Good times!  Tommy gave him a beautiful blessing.  I felt the spirit so strong and it was such a touching experience to have your baby being blessed.  Wonderful day!

Noah – One Month (Theme song “Cry, Cry Baby!”)
Noah was the perfect baby until the day he turned one month old and then he cried ALL of the time.  It started out being in the evening for three hours straight and it gradually got worse.  One day he cried all day except for a couple hours.  Needless to say Noah and mommy cried together many a night and day.  I did not know what to do.  No matter what I tried he always seemed to be in pain. He seemed like his tummy hurt all of the time and then I felt bad because I was breast feeding and felt like it was my fault because of my milk.  Well after a horrendous month he was put on hypoallergenic formula.  No milk based for this little guy!  And then eventually he was put on acid reflux medicine.  He started doing MUCH better after that.  He still had moments and hours sometimes where he fussed, but overall he did MUCH better!  I was very thankful for my mom for being there to help tremendously when he was first born and then during this very HARD month of figuring out why my baby cried all of the time.  I really appreciated her and I am so thankful for her.

Noah- Two  Months Old

Noah’s tummy got better and so he was much happier, just every once in a while a sour tummy as evidenced below.  Mommy and daddy just fell more in love during this month!
Noah Three Month
Noah has been in the 25th percentile for height and weight.    Mommy started working when Noah was three months.  It was the hardest 10 months of her life.  But Noah had a great baby sitter, Nana Jan who took great care of him.  He started to smile more often this month.

Noah Four Months
He started to laugh very hard this month.  He also started to play more with toys and with mommy and daddy.  He began reaching for and grabbing for toys.  This was the month that began “the everything goes in the mouth” phase He started "baby talking" and bouncing in his walker.   He has loved to be on his feet since he was around 2 1/2 months.  Also he started eating cereal and vegetables with a spoon.  Also during this month he discovered his feet!  He just recently started to kind of scoot around on the floor.  Up to this point he has hated tummy time, but is starting to like it now.  He also LOVES being talked too...and is just a little spoiled. J  He HATES taking naps.  That could be bad for mommy in the future! :)
Noah Five Months

Noah started getting bigger.  He started rolling over and eating more solid foods.  He plays peek a boo with his blanket! He is so little to know how to play that game already!

Noah  Six Months
He begin to sit up on his own.  He also began to scoot and army crawl everywhere.  Noah started to pull himself up on furniture as well.   He started to laugh and be very happy as well. He started saying da da da when talking to himself and playing with his toys.

Noah Seven Months

At 7 months old he began to crawl regularly.  He also started saying ma ma ma, but usually only when he is hungry or tired and crying at mommy's feet.

Noah Eight Months
He got his first tooth.  Then the second one started coming a few days after.  So his bottom two have pushed through.  He has been so much fun. He also recognizes words like: food, diaper, bottle (ba ba), bye, yea, vroom, Roxy).  He is soo smart.  Also, it is the cutest thing.  Whenever he has a stinky diaper momma has taught him to wave his hand in front of his face while she says stinky.  He has actually said stinky once or twice.  His babysitter taught him to push his car around the house and say, “vroom”.  He also let his babysitter know that he was stinky one day, by going by her and saying “stinky.” He is a lot of fun and loves to laugh.  He will wrap his arms around you and give you loves.  He will also give nice, big open mouth kisses.  He is eating solids three times a day and has been on milk based formula since 6 months old.  Finally!  His sensitive stomach is starting to handle it better.  At first he spit up the milk based formula a lot, but now he is just spitting up every now and then.  He loves his little snack puffs and drinking out of a Sippy cup.  Although usually all the water that goes into his mouth, is spit right back out and then he laughs.  He always tries to crawl out of his high chair.  He tries to escape and cry when I change his diapers.  He fights naps like NO other and just loves to play and explore.  He is really only cranky if he is hungry, tired, or he is teething and its hurting him.  We think his stomach is better, but are scared to take him off of his liquid Zantac just yet.  We enjoyed our first Christmas with Noah.   He had us out of bed by 6:00 AM and was as cute as button in his first Christmas PJs.  He did not really know what was going on, but we helped him open his gifts and he enjoyed playing around with the paper and boxes more than his new toys!

Noah Nine Months
Noah is a joy!!! ;)  He warmed my heart the other day.  He does not care at all when I leave him in the morning and could care less when I come and pick him up. He just loves Nana Jan his baby sitter.  However, the other day when I walked through the door to pick him up...he saw me and smiled a huge smile and then just started to book it and crawl to me smiling and was just so happy to see me.  I LOVED it.  I sure love him.    He is getting into everything, climbing onto and into everything, and is so fun.

Noah Ten months old
Noah is getting more fun to chase around and play with.  He climbs up on the couch and thinks he is one cool dude when he does.

Noah Eleven Months
He is playing more and more and loves to walk around furniture, not taking any steps on his own yet though.  He is getting bigger and bigger!

Noah Twelve Months ~ One Year’s Old!
On his first birthday Noah took his first steps!  A few days after that he was a full-fledged walker because he was very determined after getting his first taste of walking freedom.  He kept walking and falling, walking and falling until he figured it out.  His first words: da da, ma ma, ba ba (bottle), mo mo (more), what at? , hot, ball, nigh nigh, light.  He had been in the 25th percentile at all of his checkups.  However, at his one year checkup he weighed 20 pounds which put him in the 10th percentile for weight.  He was 29 inches which kept at 25th percentile for height.  He is small and perfect!

14 months
He seems to sing abc, he gets a serious face and shakes his head no while making a mmh sound, he shakes his finger no at things, when he gets hurt he points to what hurt him and shake his finger, he yells at Roxy to get down or tells her no when she barks, he gives kisses and loves when you ask him...if he feels like it, he says down, mamma, dadda, mm(milk), more, ball, grandma, papa,
He dries his own hands and wipes his own mouth by putting the cloth to his face and moving his mouth back and forth, lips closed tight
he can identify his eyes, teeth, mouth, ears, nose, feet, hands...and more
He likes you to say honk, honk when he pokes your nose
He gets into everything and enjoys taking things out of it's place, he loves undoing my purse and wallet, he likes to bring things to you
He claps, he laughs
At 14 months he has 6 teeth.  4 on the top and still only two on the bottom
when daddy gets home (or if mommy is actually gone) he runs to you and gives you a big wrap around the neck hug
He loves to snuggle and gets the biggest smile when you pull him on your lap and squeeze him...when he is ready to snuggle he brings you his blanky and his binky.  Then he points to the remote and PS3 controller so he can watch tv and snuggle with you...usually resulting in him napping.
When he’s hungry or thirsty he walks to the fridge or cupboard and whines
he's officially discovered his pee pee in the bath tub
he is getting better about diaper changes, but is still a brat and tries to get away the whole time
he loves music, he sings and he dances by swaying side to side with a smile on his face
Plays the piano, helps mommy mop (not!)
He LOVES bath time.
He eats pretty much everything.  He is very demanding of attention - esp if you are on electronics.  His acid reflux seemed to have gone away with him turning one years old.  He is a very happy boy unless he is tired or teething.

Noah Eighteen Months
He started Nursey and loved it the first month and then all of a sudden he started clinging to me and crying when I dropped him off.  That lasted about a month and now he loves it again.  During sacrament he asks to go.  It will be quiet and all of sudden you hear Noah yell, “Nursery!!”  He used his binky for naps and bedtime until 18 months and then we cut him off cold turkey.  He cried when I put him down for naps for about a week, but after that he was pretty good!  He sleeps well during the night and takes good naps.  FINALLY!  It only took 18 months.  Probably did not help that I worked until he was 13 months old and his babysitter held him for naps until then. So I am glad he can sleep on his own for naps now.
Noah Twenty Two Months
Noah is talking very well for his age.  He knows and can recognize his upper case letters (all of 26!)  He also knows his numbers 1- 10.  He is one smart cookie. He has actually known this for about a month too.  He loves to sing, He especially likes to try and sing the alphabeth, twinkle, twinkle little star, Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, and Barney's I Love You.  He loves to watch Cars and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Elmo.  He has great manners, but awnry too!  He has trouble sharing, but is doing better. He always asks for a kiss on wherever he gets an owie, including his butt!  If he knows you hurt yourself he will say sorry mommy and give me a hug or kiss.  He loves cereal bars!
He is so much fun!  He loves to do puzzles and color!!!  He likes to play with cars and tools with daddy.  He knows and recognizes pictures of Jesus and the Prophet.  He is the joy of my life!!  He has to work on figuring something out until he gets it.  He is very persistent and has to figure out things or he gets upset.  He will color and do puzzles for an hour or more!
Noah loves to ask you to snuggle and watch a favorite show with him.  He especially likes to ask this right before bed time.  And it so hard to say "no" to his sweet smiling face asking to snuggle.  But he sure knows how to stall bed time.  He takes a book in bed with him for naps and bedtime.  He used to pick the book he wanted super fast...now he takes his sweet time, knowing the longer that he takes the longer till he goes to bed! :)
The other day I went to play with him and he did not want me there so he said, "Mommy commputer."  Meaning he wanted me to get on the computer so he could play by himself! lol  So funny!
